All About Evil
I had a great time on the set of the movie All About Evil. The film was shot inside the Victoria Theatre in San Francisco’s Mission District. The Victoria is
the oldest theatre in San Francisco, with its doors being opened in 1908.
All About Evil has a wicked plot which I can’t give away. Let’s just say that some off-beat things happen to the daughter in the movie, including one shocking (literally) event you won’t want to miss.
The director, Mr. Joshua Grannell, and Sarah, who did casting for the movie, liked my audition tape for the part of Little Debbie. It was fun making the tape because it was the first time I had to sing a song as part of the role.
Although I didn’t get the part, one of my acting friends did! Way to go Mikayla!
Some fond memories on the set:
I got to act in the opening scene of the movie with my Dad! We were part of the crowd who files into the theatre for a matinee of The Wizard of Oz. Mr. Grannell noticed that I was walking in alone without a parent, so he asked if anyone would be in the scene as my parent. My Dad told Joshua that he plays my father in real life, so maybe he could do a good job on camera in the same role. He was hired on the spot!
In the opening scene, I get my balloon popped by mean Mr. Twigs, played by Jack Donner. My Dad and I had a lot of fun watching Mr. Donner relish turning kids smiling faces into frowns as he popped their balloons. We talked a bit to Mr. Donner in between takes. Little did we know that Mr. Donner appeared as a Romulan officer in one of my Dad’s favorite Star Trek original series episodes. It’s a good thing Dad didn’t find that out until after we got home or else he would have turned into an autograph hound for sure.
Mr. Grannell gave me a great opportunity to do rehearsals as a stand in for Mikayla. This gave me a chance to do some acting with Robin Calvert, who plays the role of Little Debbie’s dad, Walter Tennis.
Although I’m not old enough to see All About Evil, adults can. There’s a super cast. You can learn more about the movie by visiting the All About Evil website at http://www.allaboutevilthemovie.com/about.html
